Lights and Shadows Lights and Shadows is a metaphor for the human condition of duality and paradox. Our everyday life is filled with all kinds of experiences and information that seem confusing and contradictory, but we move on all the same. Things are fast and slow, big and small, clear and vague, but they all mix together to add up to a day in the life. The subject of these paintings on the surface are sidewalk shadows and fireworks. However, they are meant to simultaneously represent light and dark, warm and cool, up and down, common and extraordinary. And just like the paradoxes of life can be beautiful, the paintings strive to be also with rich color, soft form and magical qualities of light. Many moments in our experiences can and should be memorable, and these works are meant to preserve and communicate this in a static, visual manner.
